When Machines had Style
You never know what you will find at Re-Store. Last trip it was the bicycle. This time we were there for wood trim and saw this sewing machine.
This sewing machine was built when function was as important as style. It has several areas that need attention, such as a power supply and removable flywheel, it will probably work well once restored. And while I have an awesome, fully functional, albeit plastic looking machine, there is something missing in the esthetics. Who wouldn't feel creative with a little beast like this?

Magic Doors
I have always loved little doors. They are always friendly and never threating. I like them even better when the dimensions are similar to real doors -longer than they are wide.
Wondrous things and beings are behind them. New exciting places or parallel dimensions, similar to where I am now, but always sunny.
I'm glad they are still magic, even if they are, as is this one, found in one of the ladies' room in the Buller Building at UofM.

Hanging out in the Den of Iniquity
I have been meeting the same group of women at the gym at 0615 for the last couple of years. This seems to be the best time for us as there is little time, energy, or inclination to work-out after we are finished for the day at our jobs.
For the most part, everyones' family is fine with this early morning arrangement as no one has any small children at home. Tho' one women's husband said to her this morning, "Are you going to that place again?"
We all had quite a laugh.

Snowdrifts and Snowmen
No More Dancing with Danger
The magnetic knife holder was originally under one part of the overhead cabinets, but the handles extended past the edge. I would routinely catch one of the knives as I was reaching for the oil or another item on the shelf above.
Since I wasn't keen on poking a hole in the counter, or worse, me, The Geek moved the block to a different section of cabinets.
Now there is nothing sticking out to catch.
Whew!
