Sox is getting ready for tax season...

... and The Geek can't remember her login, so she is blogging in sox name.

I just came by Sox's room on my way to putting something on the new bathroom shelf and I saw this:

I think it is good evidence of Sox's degree in geography. One could probably map these mountains of receipts, or add topo lines, or contemplate how a larger version of this landscape might affect the weather.

Almost Trapped

I am glad I was holding that... somewhere other than just there!

Did we mention that the saga continues?

Ya know, we have not yet gone for a lowest bidder in these bathroom renos. With that in mind, I am amazed at the number of problems we have had. One of the highlights must be this newest example of "cutting corners". Sox was cleaning off the new bathroom floor this morning and came across this:

I must have made an exceptionally feeble impression on the installers if they thought this was going to go unnoticed. Obviously I will have to cultivate my German forbiddingness more.
(can you guess this was actually posted by berserk?)

Another Garbage Eve

Just thought everyone needed to know the score list.
The following worked as one load in the bike trailer:
- a broken electric lawn mower
- a 30lb exercise bar and a smaller one
- 2 6' pipe clamps
I then went on to find a bunch of buckets with lids and an ironing board that may or may not be worth keeping. Oh, and one of those 3-prong rakes already on the ride home.

I told a lady at work that I got a flower pot I gave her from Garbage Eve. She asked me WHO that was. In the context of garbage eve, it had not occurred to me that Eve would also refer to a person. Guess I am at risk of developing a nickname. :-)

The Bent

I talked with my Dad about my recumbent bike (aka "bent") a little while ago. I think his idea what it is is a little off. But, better than explaining, I'll just post a picture.
Not to launch into a sales pitch, but bents are easier on your arms and wrists and more aerodynamic. They are, however, much more difficult to do a trackstand on. ;-)

Tropical Rain

Well, here we are waiting out some tropical rain, making use of the free internet connection that came with last night's dinner. We were supposed to be on a night walk, but I guess they figured it was too wet.
The computer we are using appears to be running some flavour of ubuntu, with 4 (?) terminal cards installed. I will want to look into this when we get home... maybe there is a way here to have both Sox and I have a monitor and a keyboard on that kitchen table. We would never have to talk again :-)

Now THAT's blue!

I have had a fascination with the blue skies in this place ever since I first came here. Today is one of those big sky days - I find you can never quite catch the colour in a picture, but this one is not too bad.
one heckuva blue sky
It seems the colour is just meant to go with oak bark and Manitoba limestone. The only sample of that around my place is the foundation of the house, and I was not about to lie in the snow to figure out an angle that shows it all. This is probably more than I of all people should say about esthetics anyway. :-)

Happy New Year to you all!
